About Us

Our Mission

At Carolina Emergency Response Team (CERT), we’re not waiting for someone else to act—we’re already on our way. Born out of a deep commitment to our neighbors across South Carolina, CERT is a 100% volunteer-powered nonprofit, built from the ground up by frontline responders and everyday people who refuse to sit on the sidelines when disaster strikes.

From hurricanes and wildfires to floods and search missions, we come prepared, trained, and ready to step into the chaos—because that’s where we’re needed most.

CERT exists to assist first responders and citizens during natural disasters in our region by providing life-saving assets and manpower when resources are stretched thin.

Our Story

We’re more than just a name—we’re a network of capable hands and ready resources. Led by volunteers from all walks of life: firefighters, Law enforcement officers, military veterans, EMTs, disaster response pros, and skilled civilians who train year-round to be mission-ready. From our QRV “quick response vehicle” to our LMTV high-water rescue vehicle, to the ability to call in partners with UH-60 Blackhawk aircraft, we’re equipped to reach those stranded in floodwaters, cut off by debris, or left behind in moments of crisis.

But none of this happens without community support. Donations help fuel our operations, maintain our vehicles, and ensure we can act quickly when disaster strikes. Every contribution helps us save lives—and that’s a cause worth standing behind.
